ISFAB is organized and sponsored by Fallbrandt Press.

 

There will initially be twenty judges with a final three judges who will decide the winner.

The books will go through four rounds of elimination. They will be judged by their cover, their blurb, and their content. Judges will be given a list of questions and must rank each question on a scale of 1-10 (1 being the worst and 10 being the best). The books with the most points move on to the next round. Here is a breakdown of the different rounds:

ROUND 1 (two months)

 

  • 100 Books

  • 20 judges

  • Five books per judge

  • Top forty books will move on

  • Points of each book will be collected from the judges to determine which books move to the next round

  • Reviews for each book are not required but would be appreciated


ROUND 2 (one month)

 

  • 40 books

  • 20 judges

  • Two books per judge

  • Top ten books move on to next round

  • Points of each book will be collected from the judges to determine which books move to the next round

  • Reviews for each book ARE required (only two reviews per judge since each judge will be reading two books in this round)

  • Michael Evan will look at the reviews and determine which five judges should be the judges for the SEMI-FINALS.


SEMI-FINALS (one month)

  • 10 books

 

  • 5 judges

  • Two books per judge

  • Points of each book will be collected from the judges to determine which books move to the next round

  • Reviews for each book ARE required (only two reviews per judge since each judge will be reading two books in this round)

  • Top five books move on


FINALS (two months)

 

  • 5 books

  • 3 judges

  • Each judge reads each book

  • One with most points wins

  • Reviews for each book ARE required (only five reviews per judge since each judge will be reading the final five books in this round)

The most judges will have to read is seven books. A few will have to read an additional two books for SEMI-FINALS. The final three judges are not included in the initial three rounds and will not have read any of the books at all during the competition until the final round. However, all the judges will receive all 100 books after the competition as a 'Thank You' for their contribution to the contest.

The maximum number of books accepted into this competition is 100 books. On January 1st, the books will distributed among the judges to begin the judging process.
